Hotel
|
A block of 10 rooms has been reserved at the La Quinta Inn. The nights Sun-Mon, Mon-Tue and Tue-Wed are $59, the night Wed-Thu is $55.
In order to place a reservation, we suggest you call the Group and Tour Department at 1-866-527-1498 and identify yourself as member of the LSU CCT party, Reservation Block confirmation number 0574GRHUCR. All requests for reservations within the block should be made prior to 10/10/2011 in order to ensure that LaQuinta is able to accommodate you at the quoted rate. On 10/10/2011 any unfilled rooms will be released for sale to the general public.

Transportation
|
The best way to come to the hotel from the airport, and to go back there from the hotel, is by Taxi, which costs about $20, depending on time and traffic. It should take about 20 minutes.
There will be transportation between hotel and campus. We plan to be at the hotel in the mornings at about 7:45am (so that we can be on campus at 8am), and will provide shuttles back when they are needed. We will provide a ride on Monday, at about 8:15am from the hotel, and again at about 11:30am. Please let us know in advance when you need transportation at other times. Walking is possible, but not recommended.

SCHEDULING
Problems
* Complicated to get it to work with mesh refinement
* Verbose, you have to type a lot of things
Aim:
* User should just specify what function sets/does
* Add information to the schedule CCL file to say
what variables are read/written
* Fewer bins
* Look at what DAGMan does
* Look at Uintah http://www.sci.utah.edu/research/computing/271-uintah.html
* Create variables or modify variables
* If you have a hybrid,
* variable read/write provides a check
* can determine sync/prolong
* automatic memory allocation/freeing
BUILD SYSTEM
* Top two priorities:
1) Python front end
2) Understand what the current system does
* Grammars for CCL
* enables other programs (e.g. Kranc) to access contents
* makes things less ambiguous, more professional
* Document CACTUS_CONFIGS_DIR
* Should there be an ARRANGEMENTS_DIR or ARRANGEMENTS_PATH?
* Can the build system be simpler?
* Python front-end: Ticket 332 on Cactus Makefile replacement
* Do this first becaues it would be easy
* Generate master make
* Alternatives to Make?
* ant - Alexander will study
* cmake
* maven - Has a C/C++ plugin
* Progress indicator?
* Cactus test suite interface
* list test suites
* run just one test
* Need non-interactive test suite mode
* Ian believes this shouldn't just be in simfactory
* Maybe a lot of this could be fixed with better documentation
* Probably no one understands all of it
* Heavily tied into autotools
